Yesterday was a proud moment for our team at LA City Glass.
We were honored to receive a Certificate of Recognition from the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office, signed by Mayor Karen Bass, at a reception celebrating Japanese Heritage in Los Angeles, held at the LA Convention Center.
The event was hosted by Mayor Karen Bass and Sister Cities of Los Angeles and was a genuinely memorable morning. It opened with a traditional Japanese drumming performance and brought together Mayor Bass, along with LA civic and community leaders, who spoke about the longstanding cultural ties between Los Angeles and its Sister City, Nagoya, Japan.
Three historic gifts from Nagoya were unveiled: a Mikoshi Shinto Shrine, a Dashi-Karakuri, and a Nagoya Clock — each a symbol of the friendship and shared history between the two cities.
Our role was to design, fabricate, and install two custom glass display cases to house the Mikoshi Shinto Shrine and the Dashi-Karakuri. Both cases were built entirely by our team from the ground up and custom designed to protect and showcase these irreplaceable cultural artifacts.
This project means a great deal to us. We are proud to have played a part in preserving and showcasing these important pieces of cultural history for residents and visitors to enjoy.
A big thank you to our crew for their craftsmanship on this project, and to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office for the recognition.
